Every bedtime is different its a new adventure! My girls share a bedroom and baby sleeps next to me for now. Occasionally, girls pass out in a few minutes but those are few in my book. My eldest daughter seems to remember all she did that day at bedtime! When asked during the day “What did you do in school today?” she replies “Nothing!” but come bedtime! her amnesia is over and decides to give you the run of every single detail of her day! Which I have to say is nice and cute but JUST GO TO SLEEP!
Don’t know how your bedtime routines are like but my eldest seems to have one she has her milk and I lie with her until she drifts off… yes and it has to be mummy! Whilst I lie there thinking of all the dishes I need to clear out, laundry or what are the girls and myself going to wear the next day- doing my mental checklist…..when i finally leave the bedroom (if I haven’t fallen asleep) the reality is I feel like doing nothing!
My second child unfortunately doesn’t seem to have a bedtime routine. When on my own (as husband working) I take them all to my eldest child’s bed read them a story whilst they have their milk but she tends to drink her milk and then off she goes to the living room….. in fear she wakes up my eldest daughter I don’t make a fuss. She normally falls asleep on the sofa and just carry her to bed.
Some days I wish I was like an octopus, having 6 more arms would be great! Breastfeeding my 3 months old boy, cuddling my two girls whilst trying to read a book with a torch (as bedroom lights are too bright) and then you have to turn the page! Well it can’t get better than that, can it?! But as one falls asleep the challenge ahead gets easier and you can see the possibility of going into your own bed, for at least a few hours!
